Personal
note
from Shawn
Hello,
Although, I’m a little sorry to see summer ending, I have really appreciated the slight change in weather. Getting out over the weekend, taking a hike with my husband and our beloved old girl-dog, taking time to stop and watch the American River flow by, while Peyton romped in the water. Really beautiful – and the weather was perfect for it!
We had a great class on Monday, Raising Your Vibrational Essence! Such fun to step into being who and how we want to be, even if for just a few minutes. I know sharing that class always makes me feel great, knowing I’m aligning with my Higher Self, the Divine Essence and knowing I can always take a few minutes to check back in and realign. Yummmm.
Enjoy the remainder of September...may it bring you a sense of calm and peace.
Blessings,
Shawn
Keeping your head (and heart) in times of chaos
When it seems like the world is "going
to hell in a handbasket," can
you find and keep your center,
your sense of peace, your joy? Let's
face it, times are challenging
right now. How are you coping
with it? Can you maintain
a sense of peace or do you find
yourself getting caught up in the
fear, anxiety, and chaos that are
rampant right now? Believe
it or not, you can CHOOSE to keep
your head and your heart when everything
around you seems to be falling
apart.
Yes, you can CHOOSE to focus
on something other than the
chaos around you! Granted,
that will likely take some
practice, but the rewards
are worth the effort. The
first benefit is that you
begin to feel better immediately. It
may only last a minute or
two, at first, but the benefit
grows as you use the technique
consistently and become more
aware of when you're "falling
prey" to the negativity
and chaos around you...or
your own habit of negative
thinking. This has
been a key in alleviating
my bouts with depression. I
still need to keep up the
practice, but I am so grateful
at how quickly I can catch
myself beginning to harbor
doubts and thoughts of "what's
wrong." A
simple shift of focus brings
me back to deep gratitude
for what I have - and
a renewed enthusiasm for
what I'm feeling called
to.
Tips for coping
with chaos
- Practice
making more deliberate choices. There's
ALWAYS negative stuff to
focus on, but there's
really a lot more to be
grateful for, if you just
stop to remember a few
of those things. Choose
to focus on those things - from
the small things to the
big. If there's
a traffic jam, be grateful
for your car or a favorite
song or the extra time to
ponder a new project.
- Disengage
from "the
world." There's
a lot more happening than
what we're able to
gather in from our senses. We
can't always believe
what's "real," so
be willing to be open to
other realities. As
one of my mentors says, "Don't
keep ‘facing reality' if
you don't like what
you see." Remember,
be in the world, not of
it.
- Count
your blessings. Look
around you for the many
things that you can be
grateful for. Don't
forget the very simple
or "mundane" things,
like sight or indoor plumbing
or the color yellow.
- Remember
your dreams or vision. Keep your
eyes on the prize, as they
say! When you're
so focused on your dream,
obstacles really can't
stop you.
- Feel
the sparkle of your soul
calling you to your purpose. Let your
soul respond to your Divine
calling. Let the
shimmer of enthusiasm light
you up. When you're
feeling your Sparkle, your
path is made smoother.
- Be
gentle with yourself and
the process. When
chaos surrounds you, it's
easy to slip in to that
stream. Try to be
gentle with yourself as
you develop the habit of
learning to choose your
thoughts more deliberately. Although
these are important habits
to develop, keep the process
loving and light-hearted.
This week, please keep your
focus on what you want your
life to be like and how you
want to move through the world. As
you focus on more peace and
joy in your life, those qualities
expand. The more we live
in joy and peace, the less
the fear and chaos can effect
us. Spread your
joy!

Each of us has an innate gift, an inner sparkle. Life can knock us around and with time, this sparkle can feel like it's dimming. When we remember that we still carry that sparkle, and that we can tap in to it regularly, we discover we have more possibilites and options available to us. Sparkling feels great - and what's better than feeling great more often?
