Personal
note
from Shawn
Hello,
Sending
you greetings and best wishes for
a wonderful summer. I hope you
are enjoying this season! Over
the last several months, I've
become increasingly interested
in the principles now being called
the "Law of Attraction." I've
heard about this stuff for years,
and pretty much pooh-poohed it,
so what's different now?
Truthfully, I'm not sure.
What I do know is that some of
what I'm learning has made
a big difference in how I'm
looking at life and I'm really
appreciating that. Let's
face it, life has it's ups
and downs, it's joys and
disappointments. When you experience
those "downturns," learning
to be mindful of your responses
and consciously directing your
thoughts can make a world of difference.
When you can focus on what gives
you joy, what's not to like?
Today,
may you focus on life's
joy!
Blessings,
Shawn
The
Dash
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me".

"I
used everything you gave me." When
people speak of living meaningful
lives, this is, in part, what they're
speaking about - living fully,
stretching themselves, discovering
more of what they are capable of,
so that at the end of their lives
they can be content, knowing they've
made the most of their lives, using
all they've been given. This
is a key piece of experiencing
a joyous life.
Periodically,
it's
important to reflect on where we
are in life and where we want to
be; who we are and who we want
to be; how we are and how we want
to be. Gauging the where and who
and how we are keeps us on track
to living a meaningful life. Sometimes
we do go astray, yet we can always
make the choice to change direction,
to head in a direction that is
more fulfilling to us.
You
may have heard of the poem "The
Dash" by Linda Ellis. When
we pass, our tombstones often include
the dates of our birth and our
death. Between the two is "the
dash." Simple Truths has
put the poem to video... http://www.thedashmovie.com/ . It's a gentle reminder
of the importance of the way we
live our lives. What will we do
with the time between our birth
and our death? How will we make
the most of the opportunities we
are presented with?
Tips
for making the most of your "dash"
- Develop
a series of Delicious Daily Habits
or Success Habits. Discover
the actions that "make
your day" and develop a
plan to incorporate them into
your daily practices. Start with
small things that you can fairly
easily incorporate and be sure
to acknowledge these actions
as being simple keys to living
your life more fully. (Examples:
Floss, love notes to your spouse
or children, time for reflection/meditation/prayer)
- Start
or re-start a gratitude journal. Being aware of the many
things you can be grateful for
helps keep your attitude positive.
And being positive and appreciative
are VERY attractive qualities.
What are you grateful for? What's
the best thing that's happened
to you today?
- Stretch
yourself. Keep moving forward and growing...stretching
the comfort zone helps assure
that you will be using more and
more of your talents. These don't
always have to be huge things...little
things done consistently can
take you a long way, too. Even
spending 5 or 10 minutes doing
something you might put off can
make a big difference, particularly
if you focus on what you've
done (vs. how far you have to
go - don't
go there! Trust me, it doesn't
help.).
Putting
it into practice
Over
the next few days, spend some time
letting your heart wander to how
you want to be remembered and how
fully you want to have used what
you've been given.
Make note of the key points and
ask yourself how well the way you
are living your life now corresponds
with your vision. If it's
spot on, great! If it's not,
what are the areas you'd
like to adjust? Use the tips above
to begin to help you align with
your vision and develop a plan
that will help you say ‘yes' to
who you want to be.
If
you'd
like to make sure you're
using all you've been given
and want a little help, consider
the next "Remember
Your Sparkle" teleclass.
